Welcome to the City is a showcase of Katrina Jaminet’s ability to illustrate warm interesting backgrounds. In her professional career, Jaminet aims to become a background artist on animated television programs and with this piece aims to illustrate their ability to create backgrounds and implement them into animated stories. This animation is a simple flow between scenes with a focus on movement and characterization. Characterization in both how the background of a scene can tell the audience a lot about the characters that live in that environment as well as how the characters themselves can show their personalities. This piece exemplifies warmth and community with a focus on warm colors and calming scenery.
